Iceland, my favorite destination in the world, just got ten times cooler. If more of our politicians were like Birgitta, the President-elect of the United States would be Patti Smith and countries would be sending love songs to each other instead of drones and animosity.

A militant activist and poet who once was homeless she is the founder of Iceland's The Pirate Party and a Member of Parliament who is taking on the political status quo with the sweet/savage DIY methods known only to hardcore punks and disrupters. And she is vegetarian! When I met her at the Les Napoleans conference recently Birgitta gave me "The World Healing Book" she edited, and now I can't go anywhere without it.

Talking with this self made poetician made me tremble with delight at the potential we all have to remake ourselves and live, love, work and serve in unconventional and fulfilling ways.

Look her up. She will make you wonder.
