With Love (And No Hate) to Bali

With Love & No Hate in Bali.jpg

Momentarily sad to leave this extraordinary place. While Indonesia has its troubles like any other country, it also has some of the last remaining pieces of heaven on earth. (We are successfully destroying most of the rest.) The rich and succulent vegetation, wild flowers and fruit, birds and animals roaming free, and a gentle, beautiful people who worship the delights that nature has generously showered on them- Bali a gift to the senses, specially to the jaded Western traveler. The epic Hindu sculptures at surprising intersections, the gothic-Vedic architecture and the riot of flowers and fragrances that assault you at every turn cleanse the soul.

My week here convinced me there are alternatives to the high-tech, artificial-intelligence driven futures we are hallucinating in the West. Perhaps there is a gentler, kinder and more sensual time around the bend- where benevolent Gods and Goddesses, a joyous citizenry, and wild and wanton nature inspire the original Dream of Life.

Thank you Bali. Can’t wait to return to your warm embrace.
