Hallucinatory Zebras

I remember a childhood story in which zebras roamed the streets of cities that were paved with gold, along with flamingoes and tortoises and penguins and tigers and sheep and peacocks. In this magical place men and women were equal and as exotic and beautiful; animals were worshipped, not eaten, and laughing children ran free in fields of rainbow flowers.

That city, that dream was fiction but hypnotic zebras drink from clear blue water and roam wild and wanton in the fairyland of Namibia.
